Nattumurthy Theyyam – Information – Story

Nattumurthy Theyyam is a rare theyyam seen during the annual thira kaliyattam theyyam festival mainly in Kasaragod region of Kerala. As per information, this is the theyyam of a person who had lived in the region and the story is based on folklore. Nattu Moorthy Theyyam story is that of the deity helping the region, a family through his selfless action and becomes a daivakaru or holy person. The person is given a worship place and theyyam is performed in his remembrance annually.

Nattumoorthy Theyyam is a calm theyyam and is friendly towards the people. It has a unique headgear and appearance. The theyyam is also known by the names of Nattadukkam Veeran theyyam and Nattu Paradevatha theyyam.

This theyyam can be witnessed at Kasargod Chittarikkal Kamballur Kottayil Tharavadu Devasthanam temple on October 27 or October 28.
