Karuvanthodu Bhagavathy Theyyam – Information – Story

Karuvanthodu Bhagavathy theyyam is a rare theyyam performed during the annual theyyam kaliyattam and thira festival at Kannur region of Kerala. As per information, this theyyam is the manifestation of Adi Parashakthi (Mother Goddess). She appears to protect her ardent devotees and she is given a worship place or aaroodam. A theyyam of the deity is performed annually to get her blessings and to keep her calm and quiet.  

Karuvanthodu Bhagavathy theyyam is worshipped for achieving success and to conquer various fears. She blesses her children with peace, prosperity and fertility. She is also worshipped for good health and to keep away contagious diseases.

Mathamangalam Eryam Alakkode Kanhirangadan Tharavadu Devasthanam temple, Mathamangalam Vellora Kannangat Bhagavathy temple (February 1 to Feb 4) and Peringome Kannangattu Bhagavathy Kavu temple (January 5 to January 8) are important sacred place where the theyyam is performed.
