Karimbam Bhagavathi theyyam is a mother goddess theyyam worshipped during the annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival at the New Mahe Peringadi Mangad Vaanukanda Kovilakam Bhagavathy temple. As per information, this is a manifestation of Mother Goddess Durga Devi (Bhagavathy). As per Karimbam Bhagavathi theyyam story she is worshipped to avoid all kinds of contagious diseases. It is believed that she appeared before an elderly member of a family and she was given a place or aaroodam in a sacred place. To honor her and to keep her pacified a theyyam was performed.
Karimbam Bhagavathi theyyam is offered prayers for achieving peace, progress and prosperity. She is also worshipped for a healthy life and to find cure to incurable diseases.
Karimbam Bhagavathi theyyam is annually performed from February 23 to February 25 at New Mahe Peringadi Mangad Vaanukanda Kovilakam Bhagavathy temple.
