Kananchery Bhagavathy Theyyam is a powerful Mother Goddess theyyam performed in a temple at Kadannappally in Kannur region of Kerala. As per information, this theyyam is performed during the annual theyyam kaliyattam thira festival and is a manifestation of Goddess Devi or Durga Bhagavathy. Kanacheri Bhagavathy theyyam story is that her appearing before an ardent devotee to protect his wealth and property. The protected family gave the Devi an aaroodam or worship place. It is said that the Goddess then moved to a couple of places in the region to satisfy the wishes of her ardent devotees.
Kananchery Bhagavathy theyyam is offered prayers for peace, prosperity, good health and for desire fulfillment especially related to job, marriage and travel.
Kananchery Bhagavathy theyyam is performed annually from April 24 to April 26 at the Kannur Kadannappally Kanancheri Bhagavathy temple.
