Pattiam Pathayakkunnu Aniyara Illlam Temple – Theyyam – Kaliyattam Festival

Pattiam Pathayakkunnu Aniyara Illlam temple is located at Pattiam in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to popular deities that are worshipped in kavu and tharavadu in Kannur region. The annual theyyam, kaliyattam and thira festival at Pathayakkunnu Aniyara Illlam temple is held for three days in Malayalam Dhanu Masam – Dhanu 19, Dhanu 20 and Dhanu 21 (January 3, January 4 and January 5).

This is a small shrine with a chathura sreekovil. The other deities are worshiped on square platforms or under trees and in specific places. Pujas are mainly held on Sankranti day. The shrine also observes Vishu.

The main theyyams that are part of the annual theyyam festival are Pookutti Sasthappan theyyam, Bhairavan theyyam, Rakteshwari theyyam, Thekkan Gulikan theyyam and Ucchitta Bhagavathy theyyam.

Melam, pujas and rituals are part of the annual festival.
