Iriveri Koroth Bhagavathy Temple – Theyyam Festival

Iriveri Koroth Bhagavathy temple is located at Iriveri in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Devi or Bhagavathy and other deities that are worshipped in Kavu in Kannur district. The annual theyyam and kaliyattam festival in the temple is held for two days on Malayalamasam Makaram 11 and Makaram 12 (January 25 and January 26).


This is a typical tharavadu maintained temple or kavu seen across Kannur district. The main shrine is with a small chathura sreekovil. The other deities are worshipped on square platforms.

The important theyyams performed here during the annual festival are Thai Paradevatha theyyam, Thekkan Kariyathan and Thekkan Gulikan.

Vishu (April 14 or April 15) is an important festival in the temple. The shrine also observes various other important festivals and rituals in a Malayalam calendar year.
