Champakulam Padippurakkal Bhagavathi Temple

Champakulam Padippurakkal Bhagavathi temple is located at Champakulam in Alappuzha district, Kerala. This ancient shrine on the banks of Pampa River is dedicated to Goddess Karthiyayani form of Goddess Bhagavathy. The annual Thrikarthika festival held in Malayalam Vrischika Masam is of great importance in the temple.


The temple has a chuttambalam, namaskara mandapam, shrines of upa devatas and kodi maram.

The annual festival in the temple is famous for traditional Shakteya pujas and tantric rituals. Caparisoned elephants, melam, traditional temple performing art forms of Kerala, and procession are part of the festivities. The festival concludes with the arattu ceremony.

Other important festivals observed in the temple are Navratri, Thiruvathira, Vishu and Thiruvonam.
