Chourasiya Divas is annually held in Shravan month by the Chourasiya community in North India. The day coincides with the famous Nag Panchami festival. Chourasiya Divas 2024 date is August 9.
The main occupation of Chourasiya community is growing of paan leaves. They consider Nag Devatas (snakes or serpents) as their kula devata and main deity. The belief is that they get good harvest of betel leaves or paan leaves due to the blessing of Nag Devata (king of serpents).
For this reason the betel leaf climber plant is also known as Nagbel (नागबेल).
The main celebration on the day include colorful procession to Nag temples, satsang, annadan or food donation and helping the poor and needy.
उनकी मान्यता है कि भगवान नाग उनकी पान की खेती में वृद्धि करते हैं।
इस कारण पान की बेल को नागबेल कहा जाता है।
इस दिन चौरसिया समाज के लोग अपने प्रतिष्ठान बंद करके आयोजन में भाग लेते हैं।
Chourasiya divas is annually held on Shravan Shukla Paksha Panchami day or the fifth day during the waxing or light phase of moon in Shravan month.
