Poochakkal Nagari Dharma Sastha temple is located at Poochakkal in Alappuzha district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Ayyappa or Sastha. The annual festival in the temple is held on Vishu day (April 14 to April 15).
This is a beautiful Kerala style temple with a chuttambalam, namaskara mandapam, chathura sreekovil and kodimaram.
Ellu Vilakku (lamps lit with sesame oil) is an important offering on Saturdays.
The annual festival in the temple is famous for various traditional pujas and rituals followed in Kerala Ayyappa temples. Ezhunnallathu, melam, abhishekam and seeveli are part of the festival. Vishu kani darshanam during early morning on Medam 1 attracts hundreds of devotees.
The temple also observes various important rituals and pujas including Mandala Makaravilakku Kalam.
