Chozhiyakkadu Sri Krishna Swamy Temple – Festival

Chozhiyakkadu Sri Krishna Swamy is located at Chozhiyakkad near Channanikadu in Kottayam district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Bhagavan Sri Krishna. The annual Vishu day in Meda Masam is an important festival day here. It falls on April 14 or April 15.

Sankalpam of Bhagavan worshipped here is of a young Krishna who is in his teenage. Main offering for this Bhagavan here is pal payasam (പാൽ പായസം) and Thrikkaivenna (തൃക്കൈ വെണ്ണ) on Thursdays. most important festivals in the temple.

This is a small Kerala style temple with a chuttambalam, namaskara mandapam, shrines of upa devatas, kodimaram and chathura sreekovil.

The shrine observes various Vaishnava temple rituals and festive days. Apart from Vishu, Ramayana Masam and Sree Krishna Jayanthi (ശ്രീ കൃഷ്ണ ജയന്തി) in Chinga Masam are of great importance. The day before Vishu is celebrated as the festival of lights called Desh Vilakku (ദേശവിളക്ക്).
