Ambattukavu Bhagavathi Temple – Festival

Ambattukavu Bhagavathi temple is located at Amabattukavu – Choornikkara near Aluva in Ernakulam district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy and it lies on the banks of the Periyar River. Pathamudayam on Medam Masam 10 (April 23) is an important festival in the temple.

This is a typical Kerala style temple with a chuttambalam, chathura sreekovil and shrines of upa devata. The main upa devata worshipped here is Ganapathy.

The annual festival in the temple is famous for ezhunnallathu, cultural programs, traditional temple art forms, melam, dance and music. Various Tantric pujas and rituals are part of the festivals.

The shrine also observes Navratri, Mandala Makaravilakku Chirappu and Thrikarthika festival.
