Vadasserikavu Bhagavathy Temple – Mundancavu Padayani Festival

Vadasserikavu Bhagavathy Temple, also known as Mundancavu Vadasseri Kavu Bhagavathy temple, is located near Chengannur in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi. The annual 8-day Mundancavu Padayani festival is held in such a way that it ends on Bharani nakshatra day in Meena Masam (March – April).

This is a unique temple and is unlike other Kerala temples and has a chathura sreekovil. The shrine has colorful outer structures. There is also a separate Subrahmanya temple is the same temple compound.

The annual festival in the temple is famous for unique Padayani kolams. Bhadrakali kolam, which is not usually performed in other Bhagavathy temples in the region, is a regular feature of the annual festival.

There other padayani kolams in the temple include Kuthira, Bhairavi, Pisachu, Anthara Yakshi, Kaalan Kolam, Marutha and Kanjiramla. The festival ends with Mangala Bhairavi Kolam.

Yet another highlight of Vadasserikavu Padayani is Thankaravaravu the procession of folk arts and other effigies to the temple.

The shrine also observes various other festivals dedicated to Bhagavathi including
