Thambalakad Mahakalipara Dharmasastha Temple – Festival

Thambalakad Mahakalipara Dharmasastha temple is located on the Kanjirappally - Elikkulam Road at Thambalakkad in Kottayam district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali and Ayyappa or Sastha. The annual Ezhunellippu festival is held in Malayalam Meena masam. Meena Bharani is an important festival at Thampalakkad temple.

This is beautiful Kerala style temple which has been renovated. The shrine has mural paintings. The chathura sreekovil has murtis of Kali and Ayyappa. There are upa devata shrines and sarpa kavu. Shiva, Narasimha and Nagas are the upa devatas here.

The shrine observes Kalamezhuthu pattu.

The shrine observes Vishu, Pathamudayam and Meena Bharani.

Kalamkarikkal, thalappoli, iduppu vilakku, kavadiyattam, kumbhakudam, manjal charthal etc are part of the annual festivals and rituals.

The shrine observes Navratri, Mandalakalam and Thrikarthika festival.
