Pooppallikavu Devi Temple – Festival

Pooppallikavu Devi temple is located at Pooppallikavu near S.L.Puram in Mararikulam – Alappuzha district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy. The annual festival in the temple is held in Malayalam Meena Masam (March – April).

The upa devatas worshipped in the temple area Ayyappa, Nagas, Bhagavan Vishnu, Ganapathi and Brahmarakshas.

This is a traditional Kerala style temple with a huge peepal tree, pond, kodimaram, chuttambalam, namaskara mandapam and shrines of upa devatas. The chathura sreekovil faces west and the sankalpam of Bhagavathy is that of Bala Bhadra Devi.

The annual festival concentrates more on pujas and rituals that are part of the Devi temples in Kerala. Ezhunnallathu, classical music and dance performances, various other temple art forms and melam are part of the annual festival.

The temple observes saptaham in Dhanu Masam. The shrine also observes Navratri and Thrikarthika festival.
