Ponadu Bhagavathy Temple – Festival

Ponadu Bhagavathy temple is located on the Pala Ramapuram road near Lalam in Kottayam district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Devi. Meena Bharani, which falls on Bharani nakshatra day in Meena Masam (March – April), is the most important festival in the temple.

The annual festival is noted for unique pujas and rituals that are associated with Bhagavathi temples in Kottayam region. Ezhunnallathu, caparisoned elephant, melam and performing art forms of Kerala temples are part of the festival.

A unique ritual in the temple is the Chuttu Padayani.

The temple has two sreekovil both faces west. The temple has a chuttambalam and shrines of upa devatas.

Thrikarthika and Navratri are observed in the temple. Navratri is observed with Ashtami, Mahanavami and Vidyarambham.
