Elavoor Puthenkavu Temple – Festival

Elavoor Puthenkavu temple is located on the banks of Chalakudy puzha at Elavoor on the Karukutty – Elavoor Road in Ernakulam district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali. The annual festival in the temple is held in Meena Masam (March – April). The festival ends with Arattu on Chothi nakshatra.

The annual festival is famous for mudiyettu, thalappoli, melam, ezhunnallathu, panchavadyam, caparisoned elephants and traditional performing art forms of Kerala.

This is a typical Kerala style temple with kodimaram (flag pole), nalambalam, namaskara mandapam and shrines of upa devatas.

The shrine also observes Navratri and Thrikarthika festivals.

Thookam ritual was held earlier at the shrine but it is now stopped.

The annual Pathamudayam festival (April 23) is held in the shrine with various pujas and rituals.
