Varandarappilly Sreekandeswaram Temple – Festival

Varandarappilly Sreekandeswaram temple is located at Varandarappilly in Thrissur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Shiva – Mahadeva. Shivratri in Kumbha Masam (February – March) and Skanda Sashti (October – November) are the two important festivals in the temple.

The upa devatas worshipped in the temple are Ganapathi, Sastha or Ayyappa, Bhagavan Vishnu, Goddess Bhagavathi and Murugan.

A Shivling is worshipped in the sreekovil. The shrine has a chuttambalam and namaskara mandapam.

Kavadiyattam held during Sashti is very famous. Colorful Kavadis are part of this annual ritual.

Shivratri is associated with Tantric pujas, dhara, homams and other Shiva temple rituals.

The shrine also observes Sri Krishna jayanti with procession.

The Evening Darshan and Puja timings are from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM
