Valarkavu Sri Durga Bhagavathi Temple is located in Valarkkavu, Thrissur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali. The annual festival which is famous as Valarkavu is held in Kumbham month (February – March).
This is an ancient temple and synonymous with beautiful Kerala style temple architecture – sreekovil, chuttambalam and temple pond.
The annual festival is like any other temple festival in Thrissur district and is noted for caparisoned elephants and melam. There are kolams, procession, temple art forms, pujas and rituals associated with Bhadrakali temple. The festival concludes with arattu.
The temple is noted for its wooden carvings on the roof.
The shrine also observes Navratri and Thrikarthika festivals.
