Ranni Saleeswaram Mahadeva Temple – Festival

Ranni Saleeswaram Mahadeva temple is located at Angadi – 500 meters off Mamukku Junction 0n Punalur – Muvattupuzha road in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Mahadeva – Shiva. Shivratri festival which falls before the Amavasya day in Malayalam Kumbha Masam (February – March) is an important festival at Shaleeshwaram temple.

An ancient Shivling is worshipped in the chathura sreekovil – square sanctum sanctorum. The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Ganapathy, Sastha or Ayyappa, Muruga and Goddess Bhagavathy.

The temple has a nalambalam, namaskara mandapam, bali kallu, and shrines of upa devatas.

The annual Shivratri festival is famous for tantric rituals including homam, dhara, vazhipadu, ezhunnallathu and abhishekam.

Ramayana Masam, Navratri, Vrischika Masam and Thiruvathira in Dhanu masam are observed in the temple.
