Rajju Kootta Hindu Astrology – Rajju Porutham In Horoscope Matching

Rajju Kootta, or Rajju Porutham in horoscopes based on Hindu astrology is based on the principles of five elements – ether, air, fire, water and earth. The 27 birth stars of nakshatra are classified into the five elements. It is usually used by some communities for horoscope matching for marriage.

Akasha (ether or space) – Mrigasira or Makayiram, Chitra or Chithirai or Chithira and Dhanishta or Avittam

Vayu (air) – Rohini, Hasta or Atham, Sravana or Shravan or Thiruvonam, Ardra or Arudhara or Thiruvathira, Swati or Chothi and Satabhisha or Sadayam or Chathayam.

Agni (fire) – Krittika or Kartika or Karthigai, Uttara Phalguni or Uthiram, Uttarashada or Uthradam, Punarvasu or Punartham, Visakha or Vishakam and Purva Bhadrapada or Pooruruttathi.

Jala (water) – Bharani, Purva Phalguni or Pooram, Purvashada or Pooradam, Pushya or Poosam or Pooyam, Anuradha or Anusham or Anizham and Uttara Bhadrapada or Uthrattathi.

Prithvi (earth) – Ashwini or Ashwathy, Magha or Makam, Moola or Moolam, Ashlesha or Ayilyam, Jyeshta or Kettai and Revati.

  • Akasha or ether is known as Siro Rajju.
  • Vayu or air is known as Khanda Rajju.
  • Agni or fire is known as Udhara Rajju.
  • Jala or water is known as Uru Rajju.
  • Prithvi or earth is known as Pada Rajju.

The same rajju for both male and female is prohibited in matrimonial matching. This Kuta is said to increase the longevity of husband and wife.
