Paravur Puthiyidam Mahadeva Temple – Festival

Paravur Puthiyidam Mahadeva temple is located at Paravur in Kollam district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Shiva. The annual 8-day festival begins on Thiruvathira nakshatra in Makaram month.

This is a small Shiva temple with a Shivling in the sanctum sanctorum or sreekovil. There is a chuttambalam and upa devata shrines outside the main temple courtyard.

The shrine has a huge temple pond and a kodimaram or flag post.

The annual festival in the temple is famous for melam, caparisoned elephants and traditional temple art forms. The festival culminates with arattu.
