Panimoola Devi Temple – Festival – Pongala

Panimoola Devi temple is located at Pothencode in Thiruvananthapuram District, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga Bhagavathy and Goddess Bhadrakali. The annual pratishta festival in the temple is held in Kumbha Masam (Kumbha 8)

The shrine is a classic example of Kerala style temple architecture and includes a huge compound wall.

Chempu Payasam (sweetened rice payasam made from jaggery in big vessels) is a unique offering in the temple.

The annual pongala festival in the temple is held on Kumbham 8 (February 21 or February 22).

The seven-day annual festival in the temple is held once in two years.

As per history, the Goddesses were initially worshipped in a Mudippura and Mullapanthal. The present shrine was built in 1980 CE.

Bali Tarpanam and Thila Homam are performed here on Karkidaka Vau day.

The shrine observes Navratri, Durga Ashtami, Maha Navami, Vidyarambham and Thrikarthika.
