Kunnicode Kadumangalam Mahadevar Temple – Festival

Kunnicode Kadumangalam Mahadevar temple is located at Kunnicode in Kollam district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Shiva. The shrine is famous for its annual festival in Dhanu masam. Maha Shivratri is another important festival in the temple.

The temple has a round sanctum sanctorum or round sreekovil. The Shivling worshipped in the temple is very old but the out structures are comparatively new.

To Shivlings with equal importance are worshipped here. There is a big murti of Nandi or Rishabam in the temple. Such huge Nandri murti are very rare in Kerala.

One Shivling is in ferocious form. It is believed that the second Shivling was consecrated here to reduce the ferocity and power of the original Shivling.

Kala ezhunnallathu (big effigy of ox) is an important event during the annual festival.

The annual Pratishta festival in the temple is held in Malayalam Meda masam.
