Kolamangalam Manchara Shiva Temple – Festival

Kolamangalam Manchara Shiva temple is located at Kolamangalam near Valanchery in Malappuram district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Shiva – Mahadeva. The annual Shivratri festival in Kumbha Masam (February – March) is observed as the annual temple festival at Manchara temple.

The annual festival is famous as Poora Maholsavam. Kala Pattu ritual is an important ritual here. Pujas, tantric rituals, homam, dhara etc are part of the annual festival. Lamps, melam and Kerala temple folks arts complete the main festival season.

The temple has a round sanctum sanctorum (vatta sreekovil) with a Shiva Linga pratishta. There is a namaskara mandapam. The shrine of Goddess Bhagavathi is on the opposite side of the main temple.

Pradosham and Mondays are important here. Thiruvathira in Dhanu Masam is yet another important festival at the temple.
