Karicode Mahadeva Temple – Mulanthuruthy – Festival

Karicode Mahadeva temple is located at Karikode near Mulanthuruthy in Ernakulam district, Kerala. The main deity worshipped in the temple is Shiva or Mahadeva. The annual festival in the temple coincides with the Shivratri festival in Kumbha Masam (February – March).

This an ancient temple with an old peepal tree in front. A Shivling is worshipped in the sreekovil. The temple has a chuttambalam, namaskara mandapam and shrines of Upa Devatas. The main upa devata worshipped in the temple is Ganapati at kannimoola.

The annual temple festival is noted for ezhunellippu and melam. Seevil, Sree Bhootha bali and other similar rituals associated with Shiva temples in Kerala are observed here.

The shrine also observes Ramayana Masam, Mandala Makaravilakku and various rituals in Dhanu Masam.

Pradosham and Mondays are of great significance here.
