Kalluvettam Sree Dharma Sastha Temple – Festival

Kalluvettam Sree Dharma Sastha temple is located at Melukavu or Melukavumattom in Kottayam district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Ayyappa or Sastha (Dharma Sastha). The annual vilakku festival in the temple is held in Kumbha Masam.

This is a small shrine and has all the elements of a Kerala temple. The temple has separate shrines for upa devatas. There is a kodimaram and chuttambalam.

The annual festival in the temple is famous for caparisoned elephants, melam, procession, Kerala tempe folk art forms, pujas and rituals including pallivetta and arattu. Nearly three caparisoned elephants are part of the annual temple rituals.

The temple observes Ramayana Masam and Mandala Makaravilakku kalam (November mid to January 20).
