Bemmannur Cheramkulangara Bhagavathy Temple – Vishu Vela – Other Info

Bemmannur Cheramkulangara Bhagavathy temple is located at Bemmannur Cheramkulangara in Palakkad district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy. The annual Pratishta festival in the temple is held in Makara Masam for three days.

The Vishu Vela with Tholpavakoothu is held in Meda Masam. The annual Vishu vela is famous for fireworks, panchavadyam and ezhunellippu of Bhagavati atop caparisoned elephant. Thayambaka and other Kerala folk arts and rituals are part of the festival.

The announcement of Vela is made through the arrival of Poothan and Thira.

This is a small but well maintained temple dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi. Devi is worshipped in a square sanctum sanctorum.

The Ayyappa Vilakku in the temple is held in Dhanu Masam.

The Uccharal or Pongala festival is held in Kumbha Masam.

Another important festival in the temple is the Thiruvathira festival in Dhanu Masam. Umamaheshwara puja and Mangalya Puja are held on the day.

Other festivals and rituals in the temple include Navratri, Triputhari, Illam Nira, and Ramayana Masam (chuttuvilakku)
