Attapadam Palakkal Bhagavathy Temple – Makara Chowa Festival

Attapadam Palakkal Bhagavathy temple is located near Koratty in Thrissur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi (the sankalpam is that of Bhadrakali). The shrine is famous for the annual Makara Chowa festival – held on the first Tuesday (chovva) in Makaram month.

The annual festival is famous for Bhagavathy temple pujas and rituals. The highlight of the day is melam and caparisoned elephants. The thidambu of Bhagavathy is carried atop caparisoned elephant as part of ezhunnallathu.

This is a small temple with a chathura sreekovil. The deity faces east.

The temple also observes Navratri, Ashtami, Navami and Thrikarthika festival.
