Alanallur Ayyappankavu Temple – Festival

Alanallur Ayyappankavu temple is located at Alanallur, around 20 kms from Mannarkkad and Perinthalmanna, in Palakkad district, Kerala. The annual Thalappoli festival is held in Makaram month. The annual Pooram festival is famous for traditional temple art forms and melam.

Alanallur Ayyappankavu temple is a small temple amidst natural surroundings and the shrine is dedicated to Ayyappa or Sastha. The temple also has upa devatas.

The pooram festival is famous in the region for caparisoned elephants. Thidambu of Ayyappa is held atop a caparisoned elephant that is flanked by other elephants. The ezhunnallathu is accompanied by melam.
