Nechoor Karakkudam Subrahmanya Swami Temple

Nechoor Karakkudam Subrahmanya Swami temple at Nechoor is around 5 km north of Piravom in Ernakulam district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Subrahmanya or Muruga. The annual Thaipooyam festival observed in Makarm month (January – February) is an important festival in the temple.

The Thaipooyam festival is famous for temple music, various types of Kavadis, Shoolam, and Kavadiyattam. The festival is one of the most colorful festivals in the region. Caparisoned elephants, melam,temple music and procession are part of the festival.

The temple also observes Sashti fasting in every Malayalam month – the sixth day after Karuthavavu or Amavasya.

The temple has a square sanctum sanctorum and is built on traditional Kerala temple architecture style.
