Kavanur Subrahmanya Swamy Temple – Kerala

Kavanur Subrahmanya temple, also known as Kavanoor Pariyarakkal Subrahmanya Swamy temple, is located at Kavanur, 15 km north or Manjeri, in Malappuram district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Subrahmanya. The temple is famous in the region of Thaipooyam festival in Makaram month (January – February).

The small but beautiful shrine has a standing murti of Muruga or Subrahmanya.

The Thaipooyam festival is famous for traditional Kavadi by devotees. Colorful kavadiyattam and procession are part of the festival.

The temple also observes monthly Sashti fasting, Skanda Sashti and Thrikarthika.
