Ramapuram Devi Temple – History – Facts – Offerings

Ramapuram Devi temple is located at Ramapuram on Haripad – Kayamkulam road in Alappuzha district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali and Goddess Bhuvaneshwari. The darshanam of Bhadrakali is towards north and that of Bhuvaneshwari is towards east.

The murti of Goddess Bhadrakali is carved in wood – Dharu Vigraham – and is nearly 6 feet tall.

As per history, Goddess Bhadrakali was brought here from Kodungallur – Avahichu Kondu Varika. Goddess Bhuvaneshwari was the thevara murti of Kayamkulam king.

The main offering to Goddess Bhadrakali is Kadum-payasam and that of Bhuvaneshwari Bhagavathy is Kootu-payasam.

The eight-day annual festival in the temple ends on Meena Bharani (Bharani nakshatra in Meenam month).

The temple earlier belonged to Vadakke Moodampadi Illam.
