Kulathoor Kolathukara Shiva Temple - History - Festival

Kulathoor Kolathukara Shiva temple is located near Kesavadasapuram in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The shrine is of significance in Kerala history. The temple is dedicated to Shiva and a shivling is worshipped in the temple. The pratishta of the Shivling in the temple was performed on the 13th day of Meena masam in Kollavarsham 1068 by Sree Narayana Guru.

The annual festival in the temple is held in Meena Masam and it begins with kodiyettam. The festival concludes with arattu on Thiruvathira nakshatra day in Meenam month.

Monday is of importance in the temple. The shrine observes Pradosham on the 12th or the 13th day of a fortnight. Mahashivratri in Kumbham month is of great significance here.

It is said that Sree Narayana Guru used to visit Kulathoor quite often.
