Adinadu Sakthikulangara Temple Near Karunagappally - Kollam - Festival

Adinadu Sakthikulangara Temple is located at Clappana Village, around 6 km northeast, of Karunagappally in Kollam district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Durga. The temple is one among 108 Durga temples in Kerala and is mentioned in the text Keralolpathi.

Along with Goddess Durga, Aishwarya Yakshi is also worshipped in the same sanctum – sreekovil. The Durga Bimbam worshipped in the temple is nearly four feet. The darshan of the temple is towards eastern side.

The upa devatas worshipped in the temple Shiva, Ganapati, Nagam and Mahalakshmi.

It is believed that Goddess Durga Vigraham worshipped here was initially installed at Ayyankoickal Shiva temple (a kilometer away from present temple). But it was later installed in the current temple as the main murti.  

The main offering in the temple is Iratti Payasam. The karnma shanti of this temple was Palakkottu Madom.

The annual festival in the temple is held for 10 days beginning of Uthrattathi nakshatra in Kumbham month. The festivals of days 6 to 9 are held by four villages (karas).

It is said that the temple belonged to Akathoottu kings.

Varavil Bharanikavu and Chirakkadavu Bhagavathi temples are the keezhedams (Keezhudu temples) of Adinadu Sakthikulangara temple.
