Kothamangalam Elamkavu Bhadrakali Temple - History - Festival

Elamkavu Bhadrakali temple is located at Kothamangalam in Ernakulam district, Kerala. Vilakku is held on Aswathy nakshatra in Kumbham month. Thookam is held on Bharani nakshatra in Meenam month. The thookam in the temple coincides with Kodungallur Bharani.

The temple remains closed for three days after thookam.

Dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali or Bhagavathi, the prathishta in the temple is Kannadi Shila Pratishta. The deity faces west. There are no upa devatas in the temple.

The temple belongs to Padumthol Mana. Poet Elamkavil Sankara Warrier had worked as Kazhakam in the temple.

Elamkavu is the keezhakedam of Valiyakavu. Cherupuram Vishnu temple, Kozhimattam Vishnu temple and Ayyankavu are the keezhakedams of Valiyakavu.
