Kamukumchery Thiruvilangonappan Temple Festival

Kamukumchery Thiruvilangonappan temple is located around 4 km from Piravanthoor Junction on Punalur – Pathanapuram road in Kollam district, Kerala. Kamukumchery Thiruvilangonappan temple annual festival is observed on Pooyam and Ayilyam nakshatra in Meenam month. Mahashivratri is another important festival here.

Elephants are not allowed in the temple festival. On the Ayilyam nakshatra day there is the famous Kettukazhcha and procession accompanied by temple music. Ezhunnallathu and Vilakku are held on the midnight of Ayilyam nakshatra day. One the festival day, Aru Para naivedyam is prepared.

In the same sreekovil on the same peedam there are murtis of Shiva, Parvati and Guru Shikhaman (Vettakkorumakan).

Shiva and Goddess Parvati worshipped in the temple is the Kirathamoorthy and Keerta stree (woman).

Only two pujas are held in the temple – ucha pooja (noon) and athazha puja (night).

The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Ganapathy and Yakshi.

The main offering in the temple is 6 para ari (rice).
