Ayyampilly Mahadeva Temple - Specialities - Festival

Ayyampilly Mahadeva temple is located near Kuzhuppilly on the Vyppin – Munambam Road in Ernakulam district. The 8-day annual festival in the temple is observed in such a way that it ends on vavu or amavasya day after Shivratri.

The main deity worshipped in the temple is Shiva. The deity faces east. The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Goddess Parvati, Ganapathy, Ayyappa and Nagayakshi. Ayyappa has importance among the Upa Devatas.

Women are not allowed to enter the Mukha Mandapam of Ayyappa. There are two ponds on the northeast and southwest of the temple complex.

The temple belonged to the Kochi Royal family.

The main offering the temple is 1001 pot (kudam) dhara.
