Aniyoor Durga Devi Temple In Thiruvananthapuram - History - Information - Gods - Festival

 Aniyoor Durga Devi temple is located near Sreekaryam in Thiruvananthapuram. The 8-day annual festival in the temple is observed in such a manner that it ends with Arattu on the Karthika Nakshatra in Medam month.

Aniyoor Durga Devi temple is believed to be one among the 108 Durga temples in Kerala. Baladurga is the main deity worshipped here. It is believed that a person in Thottathil Madam prayed to Goddess Durga for a child. Goddess Durga appeared before the man and it is the same form that is worshipped in the temple.

The temple has round sreekovil and chuttambalam.

The subsidiary deities worshipped in the temple are Ganapathy, Shiva, Sastha, Chamundi, Vishnu and Naga.

It is believed that the two great reformers of Kerala, Chattampi Swamikal and Sree Narayana Guru first met in the temple and they had a conversation in the Althara in the temple.

Chenkol thozhikal is an important ritual here. The ritual is in which children are brought to the temple before they turn one to offer prayers.
