Goddess Durga is the Mother Goddess. She protects and

The food should be offered during morning or evening puja

Durga Puja bhog is usually vegetarian but on Navami and Dashami some people do cook fish.
- The offering contains no onion and garlic.
- It is served with bhoger khichuri as the staple.
- Sometimes khichuri is substituted with mishti pulao.
- Vegetables or bhajas that make up the bogh are bugun (brinjal), aloo, or fulkopi (cauliflower), along with mixed vegetable dishes like labra (wet) and chyachra (dry).
- There is a sweet and sour chutney.
- Payesh (kheer) and mishti doi (sweet yogurt) complete the bhog.
