Popular Ganpati Pandals 2024 in Mumbai during Ganesh Chaturthi

Thousands of Ganesh Pandals are put up in Mumbai during the Ganeshotsava festival (September 7, 2024 to September 17, 2024. Each Ganpati mandal tries to outsmart the other by bringing in fresh ideas to the pandals and in Ganesh idols during Ganesh Chaturthi 2024 in Mumbai. Lord Ganesha is represented differently in each pandal. It is impossible to say which one Sarvajanik Pandal is the best but there a few Vinayak pandals that get attraction due to history, devotion, simplicity, tradition, and innovative ideas. And there are also several wish fulfilling Ganeshas.

Here is a list of Ganapati pandals in Mumbai during Ganesh Chaturthi 2024 with photos of some.

Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal
This is one of the most popular Ganesh Mandals in Mumbai and attracts nearly a million people during the 12-day celebrations and is also one of the rich Ganesh mandals in Mumbai.

Located at Lalbaug in Mumbai, the Ganesh idol erected here during Ganeshotsav is popularly known as Lalbaugcha Raja.

It is visited by millions of people during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. It is believed that by praying to the Lalbaugcha Raja one’s wishes will be fulfilled.

The main attraction here is a golden crown of two kg, golden bracelets and other gold ornaments.

The Lalbaugcha Raja mandal was established in 1934. The official website has pictures of Ganesh idols from 1934 to 2023. 


G S B Seva Mandal King Circle Wadala (Matunga)
Gowd Saraswat Brahmin community Seva Mandal is popularly known as the Golden Ganesh in Mumbai. One of the most popular Ganesha Pandal in Mumbai, G S B Ganpati adorns jewellery of gold and silver worth 100 million rupees. The first Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav was held here in 1955.

The Ganesh Chaturthi Ganesha idol of GSB Seva Mandal at Matunga, Mumbai, is adorned with more than 60 kgs of gold and 175 kgs of silver and is undoubtedly the costliest Ganesha in Mumbai. The 21-feet clay idol is also among the tallest Ganpati idols in Mumbai.

The crown of the Matunga Ganesha is made out of 22 kilograms of gold. Gold adorns the ears, feet, hands and trunk of the idol. Apart from this there are gold flowers, embroidery, necklace, a cobra and throne with lions on either side.

A highly praiseworthy aspect of GSB Seva Mandal at Matunga is the use of eco-friendly clay Ganesha.

During the festival people can conduct poojas and perform various rituals and contribute to the Annadana Seva – food distribution to all.

The samiti is also in the forefront of philanthropic activities which includes offering Educational Aid, Scholarship to students, feeding to poor people, medical assistance to needy and deserving. The trust regularly contributes to a number of institutions engaged in Human Relief Activities apart from directly promoting Educational and Welfare Activities.

This Ganpati is only kept for 5 days not the regular 10 days.

Andhericha Raja – Azad Nagar Sarvajanik Utsav Samiti – Andheri

This wish fulfilling Ganesh Sarvajanik celebration attracts thousands of people and each aspect of the pandal is sponsored by people who had their wishes fulfilled. The committee has already got sponsors till 2029. Such is the popularity of Andhericha Raja.

Andhericha Raja, Andheri Cha Raja, is one of the most famous and popular Ganesha Pandals in Mumbai during Ganesh Chaturthi. So how popular is Andhericha Raja? If you wish to sponsor the idol of Andhericha Raja in Mumbai you will have to wait till 2029. People who had booked 13-years ago are getting a chance to sponsor Lord Ganesh idol for the 2009 Ganeshotsav. The long list of devotees in queue is enough to sponsor all the needs till 2053.

A major difference between Andhericha Raja and other Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandals in Mumbai is that the Ganesh Visarjan takes place not on the usual Anant Chaturdashi day but on the Sankashti Day, around five days later.

Andhericha Raja is also a wish fulfilling deity. Thousands of people have had their wishes fulfilled after praying to Andhericha Raja and this is one reason why there are so many devotees who are patiently waiting to sponsor idol, jewellery or any part of the Ganesh Pandal.

Girgaon Cha Raja – Nikadvari Lane Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, Girgaon

Girgaon Cha Raja is organized by the 82-year-old Nikadvari Lane Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandal. They always opt for an eco-friendly Ganpati idol and is usually more than 20 feet tall. Girgaon Cha Raja is located near Charni road railway station.

Established in 1928, Lalbaug Sarvajanik Utsav mandal at Ganesh Galli is noted for its decorations and also has history associated with it.

Khetwadi Cha Raja – Sarvajanik Shree Ganeshotsav Mandal, Khetwadi

Sarvajanik Shree Ganeshotsav Mandal, Khambata Lane at Khetwadi was established in 1970.

Gaondevi and J K Bldg Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandal, Girgaon
This seven decade old mandal at Girgaon is famous for its flower decorations.


Ahkhil Mugbhat Ganesh Mandal, Girgaon

Ahkhil Mugbhat Ganesh Mandal is famous for pure clay Ganesh idol. The mandal promotes eco-friendly shadu idols.

Khattar Galli, Girgaon
Khattar Galli mandal at Girgaon was established in 1965. The mandal uses Ganesh Chaturthi to create social awareness.

Keshavji Naik chawl ganesh mandal, Girgaon
The festival at Keshavji Naik chawl ganesh mandal is more than 100 years old and was started in 1893. The mandal is noted for its small Ganesh idol and eco-friendly celebrations.
