Vallakottai Murugan Temple, also known as Vallakottai
Subramaniya Swami temple, is famous for 7 feet murti of Muruga. Lord Muruga is
flanked by standing Valli and Devayani in this temple believed to have been
built during the 7th century AD. The murti is famous for a lovely
smile.

The temple is around 51 km west of Chennai and 10 km south
of Sriperumbudur. The holy town of Kanchipuram is 32 km east of Vallakottai.
The murti of Murugan worshiped here is perhaps the tallest
in the world – found in a sanctum sanctorum.
The right hand of of the murti is in abhaya mudra.
The important subsidiary deities worshipped in the temple
are Ganapati and Tripura Sundari.
This is also a rare Murugan temple that is not on a hill.
