Sage Kapila was the son of Sage Kardama and Devahuti. Soon
after the birth of Kapila, Sage Kardama renounced the material world to attain self-realization.
After this incident, Devahuti concentrated on bringing up Kapila.
But when Kapila grew up he also decided to follow in his
father’s footsteps.
Devahuti was unable to digest the fact that she is losing
her son just as she lost her husband.
Sage Kapila then explained to his mother about the
impermanence of the material world. If she wants something permanent, she
should invest her time and energy in realizing the Supreme Truth.
Sage Kapila then explained to his mother about the Supreme
Truth. This teaching came to be known as Samkhya Philosophy.
