Hemambika Temple In Palakkad In Kerala

Hemambika Temple is a unique shrine dedicated to Goddess Hemambika in Palakkad in Kerala. There is no murti in the temple instead two hands are worshipped here. The shrine, dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy, is also known as Kallekulangara Temple or Emoor Temple or Kaipathi Temple.


Two hands made out of stone are worshipped here. It is believed that the hands are in abhaya hasta. There is only noon puja in the shrine.

In morning, Goddess is worshipped as Saraswati, at noon as Lakshmi and in the evening as Durga.

Legend has it that Goddess Hemambika appeared on earth to annihilate demon Nilasura.
Parashurama had prayed here to the Goddess to help the people from the atrocities of demon Neelasura.
