Ananta Tritiya Vrat is dedicated to Goddess Parvati. It is
performed on the shukla paksha tritiya or the third day during the waxing phase
of moon in a Hindu lunar month especially in Chaitra. It is performed by both men and women for good luck, health, prosperity,
emancipation and everlasting joy.
The importance of this Vrata is mentioned in the Matsya
Purana.
After early morning bath and purification, one should offer
prayers to Ganesha.
Goddess Parvati is worshipped in the form of Gauri, Rudrani
and Soumya on the day with mantras, flowers, incense and Prasad (sweet).
Men wear yellow clothes, married women wear red clothes,
unmarried women wear white colored clothes, widows and widowers wear ochre
colored clothes on the day.
A single meal is taken on the day. Pujas are performed in
the morning and evening.
The fasting ends on next day morning.
