Pazhanji Chiravarambathu Kavu Temple is located in Thrissur
District in Kerala. The shrine is around 8 km from Kunnamkulam town. The annual pooram
festival is observed on the second Sunday in Malayalam Kumbham month.
The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi and the annual
pooram festival is noted for caparisoned elephants and melam. More than 50 elephants
participate in the pooram ritual. Effigies of kala and temple folk arts are part of the annual pooram festival.
Goddess Bhagavathy and Ganapathi are worshipped in the sreekovil. Hanuman, Ayyappa and Rakashas are worshipped in the chuttambalam.
The shrine is believed to be more than 800 years old. The shrine is located amidst paddy field.
Special pujas and traditional rituals are part of the
festival.
Thousands of people arrive to witness the various festivities
and pageantry.
