Mahathobahara Shree Karinjeshwara Temple is located at Kavalamudoor
Village, which is 2.5 km off Vagga Village on Bantwal – Dharmastal state
highway. Situated atop a hill at an altitude of 1000 feet, Karinjeshwara Temple
is dedicated to Hindu God Shiva. The shrine dedicated Goddess Parvati, is
located midway on the hill.
It is believed that Bhagvan Sri Ram and Lakshman visited the

their exile period in the Mahabharata. Two water bodies believed to have
created by Bhima and Arjuna can be found here. Gadateertha was created by Bhima
using his mace or Gada. Varaha Tirtha sprung when Arjuna struck an arrow on the
hill.
