Monacha Sri Bhagavathy Temple - Festival - Kaliyattam At Sri Bhagavathy Temple in Monacha near Kasargod

Monacha Sri Bhagavathy Temple is located at Monacha near Kasargod in Kerala. The famous Kaliyattam festival in the temple is held in Makaram month. Annual Prathishta Dinam, or the murti (idol) consecration ceremony is observed in Meda Masam (April – May). The annual Pooram festival is held on Pooram nakshatra in Kumbha Masam.

A popular shrine in the region Monacha Sri Bhagavathy Temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi. The sanctum sanctorum is square in shape. It is a typical Kerala style temple. The walls of the sanctum and decorated with bronze lamps. 


Hundreds of people participate in this annual fair and festival at the temple.

Daily puja is performed as per Kerala Brahmin Tantric puja way. Chowa Vilakku is held on the first Tuesday of all Malayalam months. 

One of the rarest form of theyyam popularly known as Panjuruli is performed during the Kaliyattam festival in Makaram month. 

Poorakkali is held in Meenam month in the temple. This unique ritual is dedicated to Narayana (Bhagavan Vishnu)
