Dampatya Ashtami is observed in Kartik month. The
Dampatya Ashtami Vrat is observed by married couples for Dampatya Sukh or
happiness in married life. Dampatya Ashtami 2024 date is October 24.
The vrat on the day is observed for peace, happiness and
prosperity. Both husband and wife observe the vrat. The fasting on the day
begins at sunrise and ends with the sighting of the moon.
Puja on the day is dedicated to Shiva and Parvati – Vishnu
and Lakshmi. Prayers are offered by couples in the morning and evening on the
day. A single meal is eaten on the day without salt. You can also fast by
taking fruits and milk.
Evening puja is observed during moonrise. The fasting also
ends.
Couples should donate food and clothes to poor people on the
day.
