Tarashtami – Ashtami dedicated to Goddess Tara

Tarashtami is dedicated to Goddess Tara and is observed on the eighth day during the Chatira and Ashwin Navratri. Tara Ashtami 2026 date during Chaitra Navratri is on March 26. Goddess Tara is one among the numerous forms of Goddess Shakti.

Tarashtami is observed on the eighth day of the Shukla Paksha or waxing phase of moon in Chaitra and Ashwin month.

The day is popularly observed as Durga Ashtami.

Maa Tara is also the family deity of several families in North India. They conduct special pujas and rituals on the day.
