Dahi Chura Bhog at Baba Baidyanath Tempe at Deoghar

Dahi Chura Bhog is an important ritual at the famous Baba Baidyanath Temple at Deoghar dedicated to Shiva. It is observed during the month of Agrahan (November – December). In 2025, the Dahi Chura Bhog begins on November 5 and ends on December 4. In the ritual, specially prepared yogurt and rice flakes are offered to the deities.

Dahi Chura is an important food for many Hindu communities in eastern part of India. This particular food items is considered to be a must during important ceremonies.

During Makar Sankranti festival, people prepare Dahi Chura and it is consumed as a ‘Prasad’ after offering it to Surya, the sun god.
